You're totally right and this is why I doubt it's anywhere near canon, but from a shipping perspective I like the fact that they're both the 'outsiders' in Ultimate Despair - they never really fell into 'despair' the way the others did and can't really use it as an excuse for their actions (Komaeda was weird before Despair, and he had the Hope thing going on that complicated things, while Kamakura did evil things out of apathy rather than Despair) so I've always seen some neat potential in the fact that their potential redemption arcs would look different from the rest of class 77 and that maybe they would find comfort each other by not being able to relate fully to anyone else.
